Deweyhasgivenusaphilosophyofthinkingwhichtreatsthinkingasanart,asateique。AndihinandEssaysialLogichehasworkedoutthisteiquewhichIhavefouonlyofthediscoveriesialsces,butalsoofthebestresearthehistorices,suchastextualcriticism,philologistrudhighercritiallthesefields,thebestresultshavebeehesameteique,whiitsessesofaboldnessiinghypothesescoupledwithamostsolicitardfordverifi。ThislaboratoryteiqueofthiheiveIntelligeistrulycreativeintheexeraginatioyinseekingevidenddevisiaisfactoryresultsthatflowfromthesuccessfulfruitionofthinking。
Curiouslyenough,thisiallogiedmeintoahistoricalresearchworker。Ihavelearhiidthisgeofthinkihekeytosuallmysubsequentworkioryofthoughtaure。Morecuriousstill,thishistoricalwayofthinkinghasnotmademeaservativebutalrogressive。Forinstance,myargumentsfortheliteraryrevolutioninahavebeeirelybasedupontheusofhistoricalevolutionandtheyhavebeensofarunanswerablebymyoppos。
