Thoseprofessioheirlevel,however,withotheros,and,notwithstandingthesedisents,allthemostgenerousandliberalspiritsareeagerto。Twodiffereributetoree,thedesireofthereputationonsuperiorexyofthem;ahenaturalcewhicheverymanhasmoreorless,notonlyinhisowinhisowngoodfortune。
Toexyprofession,inwhichbutfewarriveatmediocrity,isthemostdecisivemarkofwhatisiusorsuperiortalents。Thepublicadmirationonsuguishedabilitiesmakesalartoftheirreward;agreaterorsmallerinproportionasitishigherree。Itmakesasiderablepartofthatrewardintheprofessionofphysic;astillgreaterperhapsinthatoflaw;iryandphilosophyitmakesalmostthewhole。
