[1]Onawaking,hefouhegreenknollfromwhencehehadfirstseentheoldmanoftheglen。Herubbedhiseyes—itwasabrightsunnym。Thebirdswerehoppingandtwitteringamongthebushes,andtheeaglewaswheelingaloft,ahepuremountainbreeze。“Surely,”thoughtRip,“Ihavehereallnight。”Herecalledtheocesbeforehefellasleep。Thestrahakegofliquor—themountaihewildretreatamongtherocks—thewoe-begoheflagon—“Oh!Thatflagon!Thatwickedflagon!”thoughtRip,—“whatexcuseshallImaketoDameVanWinkle!”
